Big tech is quietly preparing for Democratic scrutiny as Trump tries to crack down on free speech

ICE has requested numerous social media platforms to hand over data on users who are critical of its agents and operations Tech companies have complied, but are now expecting Democrat-led investigations into their compliance following the midterm elections Executives want to shield themselves from Congressional inquiries into their conduct The US midterm elections are just days away, and big tech companies such as Google and Meta are already quietly defying Trump’s orders to hand over data on users who have criticized his stance on immigration. The incumbent party usually loses seats in the midterm elections, and with a wave of Democratic governors potentially on the horizon tech companies a

The Vera Rubin NVL72 product page now rates each Rubin GPU at 19.2 TB/s of HBM4 bandwidth, down
You asked how Kindle Colorsoft colors look in Dark Mode? The answer might surprise you

On my recent unboxing of the brand-new Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (the one with the brushed aluminum back), I noticed someone asking about the quality of colors in dark mode, and I realized I didn't have a good answer. Dark Mode, which became popular on modern screens over the past 15 years or so — a throwback to the original CRT displays — has never been my thing. As a result, I don't use it on phones, browsers, or Kindle e-readers. Still, the more I thought about this question (below). The more I wondered about it. "This might be a dumb question," started one TikTok commenter, "but do the colors still show when in Dark Mode? I've only seen photos in light mode." I instantly tried t
2026 was the year of 'peak camera', and that camera was the Sony A7R VI — here's why

Against a backdrop of component shortages and price hikes, 2026 has been a challenging year for camera companies, and it's been a quieter year for new gear as a result. That being said, we were still treated to some cracking cameras — but standing tall above them all was the Sony A7R VI, with a new 66.8MP full-frame stacked sensor, Bionz XR 2 processor, Sony's latest subject-detection autofocus, and its first new battery for 10 years. It's a formidable camera whatever your genre of photography, and won both our Best Professional Camera and overall Camera of the Year awards for 2026 at the TechRadar Product of the Year Awards 2026 . Here's what makes the A7R VI so special, in my opinion. Bird

What is a keyboard if not the original brain-computer interface? You can tap on a touchscreen or talk to the computer, but if your work involves getting information out of your head and into the computer, you're probably spending a lot of time using a keyboard. We've written about many keyboards over the years, from the legendary Optimus Maximus to the ultra-luxe Seneca to even stranger fare . But I wanted to know what my coworkers actually use. As I'd hoped, there's a wide range. Some of us are strictly utilitarian, optimizing for ergonomics or functionality. Others obsess over every detail of feel, sound, layout, and looks. Still oth … Read the full story at The Verge.

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has pushed back at the suggestion that artificial intelligence could end software and SaaS businesses like his, arguing that AI will actually just make enterprise applications even more capable than they ever have been. Speaking during his keynote at the company's annual AI World conference, Ellison directly addressed ongoing concerns that businesses could use AI to build their own software – we've already seen many popular apps and suites like Adobe's Creative Cloud be imitated by AI, for example. "There's been some talk about there's going to be a SaaSpocalypse because everyone's going to use AI to build their own applications," he said. "I don't think that'
LG C6 vs Samsung S90H: which of these 2026 OLED TVs comes out on top?

The LG C6 is easily one of the best TVs I’ve tested this year, showing a significant upgrade over its predecessor, the LG C5. The new model has faster performance, a real step-up in brightness (nearly 300 nits peak HDR and 50 fullscreen HDR) and a more accurate picture, especially with its color temperature, mitigating some of the green tint I saw in the LG C5 when I compared the C6 and C5 side-by-side . While the LG C6 does currently sit at the top of the TV food chain for me, in terms of performance vs price, there are some rivals I’ve been intrigued to test alongside it. One of those has just landed in our testing lab: the Samsung S90H, Samsung’s own mid-range OLED and direct rival to the
DJI brought drone navigation to your floors with the Romo P — our Home Device of the Year

The Romo P is DJI’s first foray into the world of floor-cleaning, and the company's years of expertise in navigation and obstacle-detection have translated flawlessly from the sky to your floor. The most important aspect of a robot vacuum, though, is its cleaning ability, and in our tests the Romo P more than holds its own against established leaders like Roborock and Dreame — read our in-depth DJI Romo P review for more. It’s a hugely impressive package all-round, and my choice for Home Device of the Year in TechRadar's Product of the Year Awards 2026 . DJI’s drones have offered autonomous navigation since 2016, and it's that expertise that gives the Romo P the edge when it comes to pathfin
Binance CEO says 90 percent of stolen assets have been ‘replenished’

After hackers stole a shocking $6.3 billion from Binance customers in a record-breaking crypto heist, the company's CEO says that 90 percent of the funds have been replaced , and the company plans to cover the remaining 10 percent as well. Binance is covering the stolen funds directly, and the remaining 10 percent consists of "less liquid" tokens, which the company says may take longer to acquire. The company also said in a post on X that, while withdrawals remain paused, they're on track to be enabled on Sunday. Our commitment remains the same: Binance will fully cover the financial impact of the funds stolen in this incident. We will co … Read the full story at The Verge.
iPhone Duo vs iPhone 18 Pro: which should you choose?

Apple iPhone Duo The iPhone Duo is a phone-and-tablet all-in-one, offering an extra screen at a much higher price than the iPhone 18 Pro. It also loses some key Pro features. Pros Excellent design Two screens Stylus support Cons Very expensive Worse cameras No Face ID Apple iPhone 18 Pro The iPhone 18 Pro is a much cheaper phone than the iPhone Duo, with better cameras to boot. But its single screen makes it far less versatile. Pros Superb cameras Much lower price Has Face ID Cons Just one screen No stylus support Smaller battery The iPhone Duo has been a long time coming, but is Apple’s first foldable a home run? And even if it is, do you even really need a dual-screen device? Those are que
The context problem: How Docusign built agents that understand the business behind contracts

Ask a general-purpose language model to summarize a contract, and it will probably do a reasonable job. Ask it to calculate what a company owes a supplier, accounting for three amendments, a revised pricing schedule, and an internal procurement policy, and it’s a different story. Enterprise AI agents need to know more than what’s written in a document. They need context about which contracts belong together, which terms still apply, and when a decision needs human approval. It’s a problem Docusign is tackling as it expands beyond electronic signatures into an Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform.. Introduced in April 2024 and available in the U.S. to customers th

France has approved a proposed tax that aims to tax the amount of internet data per gigabyte sent to French users in the country, with major companies like Google, Netflix, TikTok, and Meta now in the crosshairs. According to minutes released by the National Assembly, members voted 11-10 in support of the motion on October 30 — which now means the new law has been added to the country’s next budget, despite major opposition from the government side and the finance committee rapporteur. The latest amendment, introduced by socialist lawmaker Laurent Lhardit, could see content providers pay €0.055 (roughly $0.06) to the government for every gigabyte of content distributed to French users. With
I built an AI Tamagotchi before Meta could

Mark Zuckerberg's Meta made AI look so stinking cute by giving it a squishy little face - and this holiday season, he wants to sell you a Muse Charm so you can carry your jolly AI helper around like a Tamagotchi. But I won't be buying one, because we have Muse Charm at home . It cost just $50, and I've decided the learning experience was worth it. View Link My version doesn't sport cameras or a 5G cellular radio , but it really talks to Muse and has cute avatars, too! It doubles as a pocket watch and a remote camera viewfinder, and it can (theoretically) control my smart home. Or at least it can if you inject a lot of extra vibe code. Five years after the fork, OpenSearch is slowly stepping out of AWS’s shadow

OpenSearch has come a long way since Amazon Web Services first announced the project back in January 2021, in response to Elastic’s decision to move Elasticsearch and its accompanying visualization tool, Kibana , away from Apache 2.0 and onto a combination of proprietary and source-available licenses. Elastic said at the time that the reason was to prevent cloud behemoths such as AWS from offering Elasticsearch “as a service” without giving anything back, while also accusing AWS of violating the Elasticsearch trademark . While Elastic subsequently returned Elasticsearch and Kibana to open source by adding AGPL as a licensing option, making up with AWS along the way , OpenSe

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) just announced indictments resulting from Operation Ghostbusters, which investigated widespread student loan fraud. According to the agency , bad actors used stolen identities to sign up for student loans and used AI to complete the application, making it appear that the fake student was attending online classes. While the schools receive the majority of the proceeds of the fraudulent student loan, the remaining amount is funneled into the bank accounts of the fraudsters, who then use mules to move the money from U.S. bank accounts to overseas conspirators. On the other hand, unwitting victims who have skipped college and instead directly joined the workf
