Jonathan Littell (b. 1967) - an American-French writer. For years he worked in humanitarian missions in the world's hardest places, including Chechnya, and that closeness to violence runs through his work. Worldwide fame came with the novel The Kindly Ones, which won the Goncourt Prize. He writes about cruelty and the nature of evil.
